Mulberry

Mulberry is the original high-end British lifestyle brand. Founded in 1971 by Roger Saul and his mother Jean, Mulberry specialises in in luxurious leatherwork, and women’s handbags in particular. Their debut collection of belts and chokers (the bags of the ’70s?) were a runaway success, and they soon expanded to women’s handbags, womenswear and menswear, all infused with their trademark combination of “quirky country pursuits” and “city cool”. The brand now stamps its famous crest on Mulberry luggage, purses and handbags, as well as the classic leather bags for men and women. Their original factory, the Rookery in Somerset, South West England is the largest left of its kind, and is still used to create around 30% of the gorgeous Mulberry products available today. With a clear passion for heritage, exemplary craftmanship and playful colour, a leather handbag from Mulberry will always be timeless.

Creative Director Emma Hill has been at the helm since 2008. Since then Hill has introduced the new Mitzy and Daria bag “families” to the Mulberry family tree - joining iconic classics like the Mulberry Bayswater, and also a collection of leather jackets called the Poacher and the Biker. Most notably, though, Hill designed the Mulberry Alexa – a fusion of the Elkington briefcase with Bayswater elements – and named after fashion icon Alexa Chung. A leather satchel bag with a modern twist, the Alexa bag is now one of the brands most beloved leather bags – which is saying a lot!

Fashionistas are eagerly awaiting the fast approaching ”Del Rey”  – inspired by the old-school hollywood mystique of controversial but undoubtedly stylish singer Lana Del Rey, this clean-cut, glamourous design will be available from mid May 2012.
