FASHION WEEK DAY FIVE – FINALE! Welcome back, for the last time, to our day-by-day, super exciting coverage of Fashion Week Australia! Every day we’ve run you through some of our favourite shows and helped you find the look online, and today will be no exception With vouchers, online sales and promo codes, Dealies are here to ensure you get the hottest Fashion Week fashion straight off the runway and save money while you’re at it!

Suboo kicked off Day Five of Fashion Week today setting the bar super high for the acts to follow! The collection exuded modern minimalism and couldn’t help but get us seriously excited for summer with all the fabulous beachy-lifestyle accessories and their ready to wear apparel. The show was all about the cheery abstract prints, shots of chartreuse, and anglaise-like perforated cottons expertly cut and spliced to make figure-fitting and incredibly sexy maxi dresses. Contrasting crochet edging was another star of the show, along with the colour-spliced panels on knife pleated skirts and racer necklines. Now, while competition was tough, we did manage to pick out a Dealies Favourite: Sheer Neon Green Maxi – this semi-structured, semi-not piece, in a colour only workable with a tan is just perfect for summer! Buy your very own Suboo designs at David Jones today!

The Akira show was just as delicately worked, intricately detailed and full of intriguing textures and textiles as we could have wished. Absolutely one of Dealies favourite shows of the week, the dresses from Akira Isogawa were blooming with life and vibrancy, whilst remaining true to the design influences of traditional Japanese shapes, cuts and techniques. We have no idea how he does it, but Akira transforms material into something other-worldly, or, in this case, mysteriously aquatic. Conjuring clothes into coral and floral guises, we were fully absorbed by every look. Luckily showing in new venue The Box, we got to see each piece intimately enough to gasp at every inch of its perfect attention to detail. Dealies Fave: although it’s a near battle between the Akira Bridal (stunningly ethereal without a single inch of soppiness), we absolutely fell in love with the striking wedges in contrasting colours, an incredibly perfect accessory choice.

We can best sum up the Bless’ed Are The Meek collection as “Edgy Sea-Nymph” – a look we are partly assured they were striving for, as the MAC hair & makeup team gave a step-by-step account to creating the ‘water baby’ look. Assymetry, texture, lustre and revealing cuts were the name of the game, and here at Dealies we completely lapped it up. The semi-aquatic vibe was consolidated with shell-detailing, scale-like textiles and plenty of watery shine, but sexed up with fierce construction and an incredible array of body-harness jewelry. Ranging from short shorts to plunging necklines, glam dresses with cut-away detail and slouchy shirts with a sportswear vibe, Blessed Are The Meek clearly have the midas touch. We expect to see huge, huge things from this cult brand. Dealies Favourite: The Finale Look (pictured) – a mindblowing amalgamation of the entire show – the tumbling coral-like lace combined with the black straps( referencing the harness accessories) and the animalistic mask – brilliance.

Studded trims, brightly coloured denim and ALOT of red were the order of the day (show!) at Nana Judy this evening and boy, did it go down well. Accompanied by a live band (Amy Meredith is one.to.watch), the show was featuring its womenswear debut and consisted of cute black bra slash bikini ensembles with contrasting cropped denim jeans! As we couldn’t bring ourselves to decide on just ONE favourite today, we here at Dealies decided to go for the ENTIRE denim range. How could we possibly pick just one of these fabulous denim colours?! The Nana Judy collections are available just for YOU at David Jones.

Third in line today, Indhra Chagury and Jeremy Somers had a full house awaiting their We Are Handsome Spring/Summer collection and boy, did they impress! The cheeky, photographic prints that brought them fame three years ago when they first splashed onto the Australian fashion scene were out in full force today with incredible animal prints dominating the show. The designs oozed the oh-so-sought-after essence of summer via tropical sunset vistas, collaged zebra prints, old school boom boxes, ’50s florals and abstract graphics. We here at Dealies were mesmerized; swimsuits don’t get much sexier than this and we can’t wait to be emulating the look as soon as the holidays kick off..! If peachy photographic prints or turquoise tropical transfers tickle your fancy this summer, we URGE you to shop We Are Handsome! Or perhaps you’d rather a more statement piece like the Dealies (absolute) favourite: Wild Lion Print One-Piece: rawr! Head to Shopbop or Net-a-Porter today with Dealies and be forever happy.

And too right. Dinnigan, whose creations are in the wardrobe rotations of Oprah, Kate Middleton and Angelina Jolie, has come a long way since she began her impressive career 30 years ago as a costume maker for the ABC music scene, tailoring lingerie out the back of her first bricks and mortar, Paddington boutique. But her formative years learning traditional tailoring methods have clearly paid off as she walked away with the fifth Australian Fashion Laureate presented by the NSW Government and IMG Fashion this evening. And how exactly does this fashion ace plan to celebrate this incredible achievement, we hear you ask? ”In my gumboots and shorts in the gardening pruning.” So, it seems that while Dinnigan actively injects the crazy & wild into her statement designs (‘having a wild imagination is key (to success)’ in the fashion industry, she told Style Files), her personal life is a little more subdued. Her beautiful designs are available at both David Jones and Net-a-Porter.

You’d be forgiven for mistaking Carl Kapp’s collection for a flock of toucans in super-high shoes swoooooshing down the runway. His bright-as-ever luxurious dresses were billowing and beautiful, and perfectly accented by the metallics running throughout the show. Brilliant blues, piercing pinks and olive greens created a tropical feast for the eyes that had Dealies swooning. Bold, bright and certainly defiant, Kapp proves that he is SO much more than evening wear. The sleek, bobbed brunette wigs combined with sky-scraper head-pieces were an unsual but inspired accessory choice. Backs are quite clearly back, too, as many of his gorgeous gowns were backless, but in a much more structured manner than trends-gone-by. This, combined with rigid peplum shapes and sharp shoulders, lent a much more empowered bent to his usual feminine tailoring. Dealies Favourite: this HOT hot pink strapless, flowing gown edged-up with fierce footwear and choker detail. Shop Carl Kapp online with Dealies at David Jones, be sure to check our range of brill coupon codes before you pounce!

It felt like the entire population of world were waiting with baited breath for Christopher Esber at MBFWA 2012. And here at Dealies we’re utterly convinced that anyone lucky enough to witness the Esber show was left breathless and completely satisfied. The stunning mirrored runway created thousands of perfect and precisely dressed Christoper Esber models splintered into perfect pieces, each showcasing an ensemble that would be a work of art in itself. The exacting tailoring and spotless production lived up to, no, surpassed, the level of perfection we have come to expect from the fashion wunderkind. We adored the white on white, clinical lines of the earlier pieces and simultaneously drew breath as the berry shades began to be introduced… gradually at first, and culminating in glistening dresses carved from unbelievable textures. Known for his attention to detail, the combination of unusual textiles with both sheer and shiny influences, as well as box-cut yet daringly sexy neck and hemlines are sure to be the highlight for the week for many, and we can’t wait to see this look interpreted in the season to come. Dealies FAVE: the mirrors themselves – perhaps the ultimate in Esber design – sleek lines, introspective and intruiging. We want more. Shop for enigmatic Esber fashion online at Frockaholics – and be sure to shop with Dealies for up to 15% off! (gorgeous photo courtesy of @MB Fashion Week)

Whites, tangerines and powder blues dominated the Alice McCall show today and it was clear the designer had looked to Russian babooshka dolls for her inspiration. The cheery result was a measured play between folkish and futuristic finishes, saturated needlepoint floral motifs, romantic cotton voile lace (complete with miniature applique buds), fit-and-flare silhouettes and prim elbow-length sleeves. Though there was clearly an overwhelming nod to traditional Russian dress, McCall made sure to incorporate stiff scalloped edging, nifty sheer under-skirts and over-layers, architectural and floral digital prints and neon pops so as to appeal to her loyal global fan club. With so many fabulous designs to chose from, competition was tough but we managed to source our very own Dealies Favorite: Cut-out, symmetrical flower-print dress – the neon orange contrast to the pastel florals inject the piece with a sense of ‘wild!’ Shop your very own Alice McCall pieces at either Target or General Pants today!

The slicked back hair with edgy coloured streaks adorning the Lisa Ho SS 12 runway have been a surprisingly typical look during this year’s MBFWA. What was less common, however, was the soft yet powerfully defined tailoring with crisp shapes and low slung waists. The Lisa Ho evening dresses were what the Dealies Team had wished for and more – classic, feminine chic that is cleverly constructed, with clean lines and beautiful jeweltoned hues. Panelling, peplum and applique, as well as exotic prints and rouching all took a turn – and, true to form, all looked insanely great. We love her. Dealies Fave: the jewelry throughout acted incredibly cohesively, we particularly loved the slimline studded belt (and the whole look in general!).

Ellery is a huge name on the Fashion Week schedule, and the anticipation was certainly palpable. Kym Ellery’s SS 12 collection “Delicatessen” was nostalgic and, surprisingly, based on the memory of a once loved teddy bear. Not that this was instantly obvious, as the clothes were anything but backwards looking – with an exaggerated silhouette of voluminous shoulders and nipped in, peplum waists. Sharp cuts in strong metallics were a huge focus, paired with aquas, rose, and reds – far from teddy like, but an absolute show-stopper on the catwalk. The only obvious nod to her long-lost fluffy friend were intruiging head-bands with tiny ears attached, which came across (luckily) rather more quirky than cutesy. Dealies Favourite: Sculptural silver dress – a defined waist surrounded by swarthes of precisely pleated metal. Get the Ellery look TODAY at MyCatwalk!

The Sara Phillips collection today paid particular tribute to pleats and pyjama-inspired tailoring. With strong undertones of Animalia in her prints, the pieces were ecclectic and truly brought the catwalk alive! The menagerie of exotic animals, personified by her models, looked effortlessly chic, with a keen focus on sheaths, loose-fit trousers, crisp blazers and minimal silk separates. Aside from the graphic animal prints, there were also lace underskirts and knife-pleat overlays to add a textural element, while black and turquoise stripes, smudgy dot and photographic orchid florals contributed to the mix-master appeal. Our Sara Phillips Dealies Favorite was without a doubt the electric blue, Delft-inspired ensemble – the electric colours and unusual body construct made this a true winner! Love this look as much as we do? At a breezy 9am, the Zimmermann sisters’ incredible show blew the Dealies Team’s sleepy mind! The vibrant floral patterns in electric pastel shades combined with sheer gauze, sleek silks and seriously shiny top-knots absolutely had us sitting up and paying attention… Be it Zimmerman swimwear or resort, the luxe effect consistant throughout had us reaching wistfully for our sunnies and already planning our incredible beach to bar Zimmerman style for next season! Dealies Favourite: Pastel belted two-piece bikini, beach chic at it’s finest.
Flowers for a Vagabond – we couldn’t take our eyes off designer Toby Maclean’s moody ”Desired Darkness” SS 12 collection. True to form, the avant-garde tailoring and exuberant drapery and/or fringing made for a collection that was both adult and experimental- combining sheer talent (often literally) and whimsy for a look that was dripping with attitude. Dealies Favourite: Sheer drop-v necked dress with feathery metallic fringing. Find your own edgy Flowers for a Vaganbond piece online at Le Black Book.

The patterned nudes, often combined with stark black statement jewellery, shoes or fabulous ankle bands, created a colour-block feel among many of the outfits. Though there were many stars of the show, the Dealies Favourite has to be the black-orange hotpant ensemble: casual and chic, this colour contrast piece oozes allure. Get your very own Toi et Moi Sydney pieces with Dealies at The Iconic and David Jones.

Welcome to Dealies exclusive coverage of #MBFWA, or Fashion Week – DAY ONE. We’ll run you through some of our favourite shows and help you find the look online. With vouchers, online sales and promo codes, Dealies are here to ensure you get the hottest Fashion Week fashion straight off the runway and save money too.

Lisa Maree was second in line today, opening Fashion Week Day One and setting the bar seriously high for the rest of the week. Her designs ranged from summery embroidery-inspired transfer prints to crocheted swimwear, all of which exuded her trademark feminine silhouettes with a clear emphasis on construction. A perfect example is the Dealies Favourite: Corseted Jumpsuit – white silk drapery with defined structured waist and on-trend cropped length. Shop your very own Lisa Maree designs with Dealies Australia at ShopBop.

The more than slightly bonkers collection from Kirrily Johnston originally baffled Dealies HQ as the clothes told a story that veered from Cleopatra to the Convent and back again. However, after that we were pleased to see what we’ve come to expect from Kirrily – nudes with accents of neon, beautifully tailored dresses to transform us from day to night, and brilliant statement jewellery. Our conclusion is, take what you want from this year’s Johnston show, and save the crazy for the catwalk. Dealies Favourite: Faded Neon - the cut and neutral accessories keep the color in focus. You can shop classic Kirrily online at FrockShop.

Did you know that Whitney Eve is the first international celebrity-cum-designer to launch their self titled collection at MBFWA? The Whitney Eve line, with the affordable diffusion range W.E was showcased in the new Fashion Week Venue, The Box and the stunning monotone backdrop was perfect juxtaposition to Port’s feminine chic. From flirty summer dresses to tailored collars and asymmetrical hemlines, Port’s first show Down Under certainly proved that she’s here to stay. Dealies Favourite: Whitney herself sporting a clever mismatch of muted metallics. Find her fresh style online at Revolve and be the first to emulate her California style.

Closing the show was Ginger & Smart, celebrating ten years of sisterly success in the fashion world. Choosing to show instead in the David Jones store on Elizabeth Street, Ginger & Smart show yet again their allegiance to art over fashion. As Alexandra Smart said, “Our handwriting is really about print and colour” – something that certainly held true throughout the show. Acidic brights and color clashing created a fashion inspired by a kind of futuristic nature, with Mohawks galore. A perfect celebration of all things G&S. Dealies Favourite: Dress, Cloak, Backwards-Jumper-As-Scarf combo (photo thanks to Glynis). Shop the eternally brill Ginger & Smart online in their favourite store, David Jones.

Helloo fashion fans and bargain hunters, welcome back to another weekly Dealies TOP TEN. We round-up the ten best things that happened this week in fashion AND show you where to shop the trends online, for the very best online sales and discounts!

1. ANTHROPOLOGIE – the latest addition to their Made in Kind collection has been announced! The Brand’s collaboration with designer labels has been critically lauded, and from May we’ll see Beguile by Byron Lars, Charlotte by Charlotte Taylor and Tracy Reese, as well as dresses from the India Collections and new pieces from established fave Rachel Rose. Prints, stripes, brights and nature inspired prints galore! Shop HERE!

2. Nail obsession in Dealies HQ is showing no signs of stopping. This week we’re fascinated by MAGNETIC NAIL POLISH… the plethora of how-to youtube vids are mindboggling, and we love how easy it is to create a professional looking manicure that’s on trend too!Shop online at magneticnailpolish.au for a great range of LAYLA concept nail art products!

3. YELLOW – yellow yellow yellow. Beat those wintery blues and dress head-to-toe in canary to brighten the duller days. We’re seeing banana-y, sherbety shades splashed around like there’s no tomorrow, get involved.

4. STATEMENT EARRINGS – or lack thereof. We noticed a distinct lack of whopping chandeliers on the carpet at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival. The downtown NY celebration of culture and film was packed to the rafters with the shiniest stars in the business, but modest studs and even (gasp) un-decorated earlobes were the norm, instead letting the dresses do the talking (we’re looking at you, Tallulah Harlech)

5. BOOTS – stomp your way through fall with ASOS’s fab selection of sturdy boots perfect for kicking leaves and splashing puddles. Loving demure black ankle boots, chelsea boot style, but with an added few inches to give you that extra kick… Django & Juliette are especially great this season.

6. HATS – depending on where you are and what you’re doing, straw or felt are your only choices. We mean this. A wide-brimmed straw beauty or a neatly fitted felt are adorning fashion forward heads from sandy beaches to grey pavements – choose appropriately! Or not, that could be interesting too…

7. LAYERS – the E L L E R Y fall range is as gorgeously structured and and fitted and layered with just the right amount of glittery yet down-played colour accenting. Utter genius.

8. KATE RITCHIE – looking Ellery-esque in a glitzy yet structured midnight blue dress at the LOGIES. The cocktail dress is actually by Steven Khalil, who is totally brill and we want to be shiny yet sophis like Kate tooo.

9. CHRISTOPHER ESBER - Esber seems to be heroic designer of the day, with interviews flying around left right and center. We care less about his playlists (although it features Del Rey if you really wanna know), and are much more hyped about seeing what he pulls out of his (probably fabulously tailored) bag on May 3rd, aka the fourth day of…

10. FASHION WEEK!!!!!! The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia (hashtag MBFWA – pheww) will see the fashion set swam to Sydney next monday. Dealies are practically hyperventilating over the front-row outfits of the likes of Olivia Palermo and Poppy Delevigne, and we’ll be doing a DAY BY DAY, BLOW BY BLOW blog to keep Dealies readers on top of all the action, and best of all, we’ll put together a shopping guide so you can find the hottest fashion week trends online for less!

Welcome back to WEEK TWO of Dealies’ brand new Fashion Blog, where we round up the week’s hottest trends and fashion news!

1. DENIM – honestly, we can’t get enough. Jeans, shirts, jackets, shorts… with the colored denim trend in full swing, embrace the color-popping style and mix & match your denim for a bold new look. It seems that double denim is fast becoming a go-to for the daring, and we love this reinvention of the 90′s nerd staple! Try bright denim cut off jeans, or a rough around the edges sleeveless shirt for a tough edge that still carries a fashion punch. Our dangerous denim icon is…

2. CLÉMENCE POÉSY – the Parisian actress (you saw her in 127 Hours and Harry Potter…) is currently fronting the G Star RAW denim label and looking pretty incredible while she’s at it. How she can look quite so stylish yet carefree with a touch of rock & roll is utterly beyond us – all we know is that we love it, and we’re jealous! If you want to emulate her effortless look check out the new range of denimwear from G-Star.

3. ESSIE – nail varnishes in an absolute myriad of colors, the cosmetics brand is an absolute ess-ential… But seriously, for an instant seasonal update, slap on the hottest new color and you’re good to go. What could be easier?? It’s impossible for us to choose a single favourite; we love the luxeffects line for sheer sparkle, but their Coat Azure blue is absolutely on the money – the shade can be seen splashed all over this season’s hottest catwalks.

4. CURVES! This week at Dealies we are focusing on finding the very best online shopping sites for plus size clothing and fashion! Check out our latest article for curvy fashion inspo and our first site suggestions, but there will be plenty more to come! Flaunt your figure with the hottest styles and designs to suit your shape, and shop the style online with us for shopping discounts and coupons – we want you to look and feel fab for less!

5. COACHELLA – the US music festival is more notorious for it’s street style than it is for the actual artists, and we couldn’t resist checking out some of the best (and worst!) looks from the weekend. We loved Emma Watson looking the epitomy of festival chic in a sensible yet stunning wide brimmed hat, and tutted at all the fashionistas who will seemingly never learn that sky-scraper heels are not festival-field friendly! Common themes included; fringing, animal print, bra-lets, statement sunnies and seriously short shorts. Nothing new there then… For a family who rock an impeccable festival-esque boho rockstar grungey amazing vibe all year round, we whole-heartedly approve of…

6. THE OLSENS. Yep. All of them. Mary-Kate and Ash have been fashion favorites for years now, but the introduction of their talented younger sister Elizabeth has proved that good genes certainly run in the Olsen fam. Seen at a premiere wearing beautiful embellished sandals from the Twins’ debut designer line The Row, this is one family collaboration we can’t get enough of.

7. TAYLOR TOMASI HILL – The red-headed fashion maverick should need no introduction, her flaming locks and distinctive style ensure she is always eyecatching, no matter where she is or what she’s doing! Recently spotted favoring a pair of black and white striped statement trousers from Alice & Olivia, the vertical stripes lengthen and slim the leg, and the bold print is a great way to experiment with combos from the rest of your wardrobe, just like Taylor. Dealies has found a somewhat cheaper (but identical!) pair online at our new favourite shopping site, Motel!

8. MOTEL! For bright and bonkers fashion based in the artsy UK city of Bristol, shop for Motel Rocks bodycon dresses – they come in a mindblowing array of on trend prints (including Baroque) and are sure to flatter any shape! They sell a whole range of fashion clothing, too, including knits, skirts, shirts and skater dresses – we love their kooky, experimental vibe – perfect for anyone who’s a slight rebel at heart…

9. CAPPED TOES. Capped toe shoes are back (again!), and are currently being championed by Louis Vuitton and Louboutin, just incase you needed any convincing! We love that the cap detail can toughen or girly up a shoe, transforming it from something average to absolutely on-trend. Last week in the Dealies Fashion Blog we looked at Pastel & Metallic as a combo, and capped toe shoes are the perfect place to start.

10. FACEBOOK & FASHION WEEK. Exciting news here at Dealies! Our Facebook Fanpage is well under-way, check it out here. And!
To compliment our outrageously brilliant online shopping fashion coupons here at Dealies, we’re launching a weekly blog – Dealies Top Ten Fashion Round-Up! – to keep you current on the hottest trends and latest news in Fashion…And it’s going to look something like this:

1. RAF SIMONS defeated seriously fierce competition to replace Galliano as the Chief Designer at Christian Dior! The Belgian legend comes fresh from his role as Creative Designer (aka color blocking mastermind) at Jil Sander, and is rumoured to have beaten both Alber Elbaz (Lanvin) and Marc Jacobs (Louis Vuitton) to the post, which became vacant after Galliano’s anti-semtitic controversy back in 2011..

2. The PEPLUM trend is here to stay! Although the exaggerated hips shape is considered to be tricky, fashion darlings have reluctantly accepted that yes, it does make your waist look tiny.. and yes, it can hide some ‘troublesome’ areas. The peplum skirt/dress/top is going to be huge this summer. Try a fitted peplum skirt with for a perfect, on-trend office style, or with skinny jeans for a chic weekend look! Take a look at ASOS…

3. PURPLE – lavender hues at Christopher Kane, deeeep purple at Gucci. Experiment with shades and structure, and maybe combine with…

4. BAROQUE prints! not just a vintage Versace luxe, Baroque is proving incredibly versatile. Strong prints with bold jewel colours, or soft and swirly girly rococo – start off with a Baroque print bag or scarf, and we predict you’ll be head to toe by Fall.

5. GRUNGE – we’re ever so excited here at Dealies. At long last our unabashed love for the 90′s can be unleashed – if you can’t wait to channel Kurt and/or Court, get clashing those check prints and doubling that denim. Ripped skinnies and loose-fit shirts, heaps of jewellery… Consider modernising by wearing an oversize checked shirt as a dress instead, because…

6. SHIRT DRESSES are back! Summer’s simplest, chicest staple is back on the books, helping girls world wide dress for notoriously unpredictable April weather. Obviously insanely flexible and easily accessorised to fit any occasion, check out Acne for some of the best of the bunch.

7. PASTELS. look sweeter than a Blair Waldorf macaroon and froth yourself in girly candies, peppermints and sorbets. Toughen up the look with mono-chrome accessories and a healthy dose of attitude. Shop this look for less with Dealies at TopShop !

8. VINTAGE. Yessss we know this is far from a recent trend, but when online shops like Modcloth, FrockShop and Urban Outfitters save you the trouble of thrifting and make it look so darn good, how can we resist?

9. JENNIFER LAWRENCE is looking incredible literally everywhere in the world. The Hunger Games star was recently spotted wearing a stunning emerald Calvin Klein Collection dress and seemingly can do no wrong. We’re only a little jealous.

10. On a sombre note, this week the Fashion world lost an icon. The very first Australian Vogue Editor-in-Chief Sheila Scotter (MBE) sadly passed away at the amazing age 0f 91. A true industry legend, remember her immortal words – “Anyone can buy fashion, but you cannot buy style. You either have it or not.”

Dealies Australia – for online shopping fashion coupons, helping you save and shop on-trend designer clothes, accessories, jewelry, shoes and bags.

Last week New York, next stop London. Fashion week in the UK kicked off and we are all hoping it is something more than NY. Although the big names were there the big and bright ideas were not.

We turn towards the Queen of Punk who is now fashion royalty, Vivienne Westwood. The quintessential designer took her inspiration from British itself. The craftsmanship of the tailors from Savile Row as well the famous suit and shirt makers. The models had fake tattoos and painted bodies, but that didn’t take away from the clothes. The line mostly contained skirt and blouse combination. Their were clashing (well we might add) patterns and colors. There were belted dresses and striking lines build around silhouettes. There use the standard Westwood fare as well, including plaids, tartans, grays and blues too. There was a since of subtleness with a touch of the wacky cuts that we know and love.

The Mulberry show seemed to be all about fantasy. Monsters and bears… Oh my! The themes were lifted from the Sendak work, Where the Wild Things Are, which one might think it strange. The coats were furry and big. There was a definite sense of fun to had. Lead designer Emma Hill made references to both the book and the recent fill of the same name. There was also a presence of animals from prints to stripes to skins. The colors were earth toned, dark browns and blues to mirror the night. Additionally Hill dabbled with leathers and many natural like textures like wood and bark as well as leaves and organic lines of patterns. Not only rustic there were some delicate silks and cashmere wear and a lot of accent on small flashes of color of course these were natural too. Along with the clothes Mulberry also introduced a new line of bags named after the singer Del Ray.

The kick off to London’s Fashion Week was certainly something different from the NYC week shows. This os only the start so we will see where it pans out before we take the show to Pairs.

Michael Kors is first up and he is looking more like he is ready for a trip. A camping trip by the way. His collection this seasons mixes chic socialites with lumberjacks… with a lot of furry fuzzy feeling. The colors were (ala lumberjack plaid) red, black and some grey. Kors having his time on TV and resurgent at the stores his looking to cash in that new popular status. The clothes are definitely made for buying. Nothing to risky or groundbreaking. Safe seems the word he should have called the show. Though there was some lovely gowns, dresses and combos, the show was more like walking through a store and not something for a week of fashion. But once again he has made the buyers happy.

Nanette Lepore developed an amazing rainbow of colors for her collection. The clothes were matchable wearable and sellable. Like Kors Nanette has an idea on the market as well as the drawing board. This season really is shaping up to be about the consumers and not the critiques. Of course we are talking about New York so money does talk.

So other mentions that made it to the scene were the likes of J. Mendel, with wonderfully crafted clothes. There were light fabrics and cashmere coats, a few items with fur and bell-bottomed pants. Again nothing to out there.

Marchesa had a good run. Not having much competition left the playing field wide open. There were full outfits of flowing gowns with shoes and accessories to match. A few strapless numbers and some feathers (which seem to the be accent of the city having turned up in several other prominent designer collections).

Other name to watch for as the week soon closes down. Badgley Mischka brought elegance to this week with some body hugging floor length numbers that would stop traffic. The clothes used some dramatic metallics and un like more of the week took a few risks that actually paid off.

Coming up Fashion Week London!
